Heat Pumps Getting Installed!

Great news! The heat pumps are on their way. Our waiting paid off and we were approved for an NB Power rebate on the cost of the project. The plan is for everything to be installed on the week of November 16th. If you have any questions please feel free to contact pastor Mike. Thank you to all who give so generously!

Berean Potatos are Back!

The “Bereans” at The Ridge Church have a new shipment of potatoes! Still $10 for 50 pounds. Call Dave 575-5602. Support community ministry.

New Series!

What we believe can shape so much of what we do so in this series we will be taking a look at the Apostle’s and Nicene Creeds. These early church documents lay the foundation and the essentials of the faith.

Don’t Forget to Register!

With fall arriving, we expect our weekly attendence to increase, and with COVID-19, we have been running near full capacity all summer. To honour public health guidelines and share the message of Jesus with as many people as possible, we need to move to two services.

We will be holding two identical Sunday morning services at 9:30am and 11am. Registration will be required for each service and the button will be on the homepage of our website.

We will also be rebroadcasting the service at 7pm each Wednesday evening for those who are not yet comfortable with attending church in person.

A Message About Masks

GNB has announced that masks are now manditory for all public spaces, including churches. This means that, for the entire time you are inside the church, you must wear a mask (unless you have a medical condition that prohibits you from doing so).

Also following GNB guidelines, people who are using a mic will not be required to use a mask while they’re speaking or singing, but will put it back on once they’re off the stage. From GNB: “Masks are required inside all places of worship and faith gatherings. An exception is made for a performer or officiant who is performing activities that require vocalization (like talking or singing) at a faith gathering, wedding, funeral, etc.”

Trunk or Treat!

You may have seen on Facebook that our church is planning to do a COVID-Friendly Trunk or Treat event on October 31 from 2-4pm at the Elementary School. We already have two people bringing their trunks but we need a lot more trunks and a lot more candy to make it a fun event for families! This event brings a Christian presense into an evening known for darkness and shows that following Jesus can be fun. Speak to Pastor Ryan via email or Facebook to sign-up!

Mission’s Moment – Caton’s Island

Each month, Justin will be giving us a missions update in the service. This month, we’ll be focusing on our District Camp, Caton’s Island!

The summer of 2020 will go down in the history books for Caton’s Island. The decision to run camp during a global pandemic was an extremely hard one to make but it was worth it! We began the summer short-staffed requiring many former senior staff volunteers during the summer to come help out and fill in the gaps.

Praise God for the exceptional leadership of Director Dean Stephenson and his senior staff. Each staff member went above and beyond their normally required duties in order for us to run camp and we cannot thank them enough! Although COVID-19 forced us to downsize, we were thrilled to have 564 camper registrations plus a combined 28 families for our family camps.

The greatest joy we have at Caton’s is being able to live out and share the Gospel of Jesus with each camper that steps foot on the island. We would like to thank all the camp speakers who came and shared hope and life with the campers. Adam DeMerchant, Reuben & Leah Myles, Tim Guptill, Phillip Davis, Kevin Myers, Ryan Genereaux, Austin White, Greg Walton, and Tami Mutch-Ketch. Each and every counsellor who shared their faith, led devotions and became the hands and feet of Jesus; they made an eternal impact. We saw 84 campers give their lives to Jesus for the first time and 97 campers re-commit their lives! Praise God!

Fall 2020 Kick-Off Information https://theridgechurch.ca/2020/09/10/fall-2020-kick-off-information/ Thu, 10 Sep 2020 20:39:49 +0000 https://theridgechurch.ca/?p=1147

Fall 2020 Kick-Off Information

Below is a summary of our Facebook live Video posted to our group with information regarding the relaunch of Youth in the fall. You’ll also find other information that is important to you as a caregiver. Thanks for trusting us to invest in your students each week!

-Pastor Ryan

COVID-19 Procedures

  • Arrival – Doors open at 6:45 to limit mingling. Please do not arrive before this time. Students will then move upstairs and be seated with the person they arrived with. Every person sanitizes hands as they enter
  • Active Screening – We will be taking the temperature of every student with an no touch thermometer. If they have a fever, you will need to pick up your child. If they are feeling sick in any way, we are asking that they stay home.
  • Bubble – Since it would be nearly impossible to know who every family is bubbled with, students who arrive together (same vehicle) or are related will be considered the same bubble. We need caregivers to help us with explaining the concept of social distancing  to their student.
  • Baked Good Snacks – Vesta hand out snack with gloves as they come in
  • Small Group Rooms – Rooms will measured to see capacity for 1m spacing with masks or 2m without, as per provincial guidelines. Masks must be worn in small group
  • Games – Low contact games
  • Tuck Shop/Canteen – Please send a larger amount of money for your student so they can prepay for tuck to limit cash handling. We test ran the system of subtracting from the total over the summer like they do at camp and it worked really well. Items requiring touch (sour keys) will be distributed by the tuck worker with tongs and sanitized.
  • Increased Cleaning – High touch surfaces will be sanitized, along with every room that is used
  • Bathrooms – Basement bathrooms limited to 1 person at a time and students are expected to wash their hands.
  • Water Bottles – Please bring a water bottle as we will not be serving water in cups as the kitchen will be closed
  • Pick-Up – Please come to the door to pick up your child – this is for safety with the parking lot. Once you come to the door, we will get your student and who you’re bringing home. If there is someone who is not allowed to pick up your child, please put that on the form.

Contact Information

As with every year, we collect contact information on students in case of an emergency. This allows us to contact you if we need to get ahold of you, but also lets us do special things for birthdays. This year, we are moving away from paper forms and doing them all online. You can fill out the form here. If there is an outbreak at Youth, your contact infomation will be provided to Public Health for contact tracing, as legal required.

Communication

  • Where can you find information about Youth?
    • For example: cancelation for bad weather
    • Facebook group – If you’re not a part of the Ridge Youth Facebook group, get in it. Search “The Ridge Youth” and I’ll approve you. You have to answer some questions to join, but once you do I’ll accept
    • We will also be sending out emails, so if you want to get on that list, sign up tonight.
    • Also: forms and info for events will always be on my door or on the bulletin board beside my office
  • Updating Information
  • If you ever can’t afford and event, just talk to me and we can figure something out. We gave out over 600$ in scholarship money last year

Missions Update

Dear The Ridge Church,

I hope this message finds you well! I want to thank you for your continued partnership as you have invested in helping raise up Wesleyan pastors and leaders who can help shepherd the Church, especially through such unprecedented times as these.

In 2019, our goal was to sponsor 282 pastors. We can celebrate that this goal was not only met, but exceeded! We have seen funds come through for up to 368 total pastors! These funds will continue to be available for new pastors as the number of leaders that need training continues to grow!

One of the many stories we are celebrating is that, just before the start of 2020, we saw our very first graduation from the College on Wheels Program in Mozambique. After four years of hard work, 32 individuals graduated from this Bible Training program!

Lastly, I want to share with you a video that was recorded during a recent GP Partner Call. During this time, we discussed our Five-Phase global strategy, highlighting Phase Three, Developing Leaders. During the call, we were able to discuss the Oral Curriculum being created in Cambodia to train pastors. I encourage you to check out this video to hear from Missionary Tim Gallant, along with two of our Cambodian local leaders.

I’m excited to send more updates in the future as we see more and more pastors trained.

Amplifying Together,

Mike Morgan
Director of Executive Initiatives

Service Video

The Sunday service video will be livestreamed on Wednesday evening at 7pm here and on our Facebook page.

Giving

During this time, we are encouraging e-transfer for tithes and offerings. To send an e-transfer, set the recipient as The Ridge Church and send it to “giving@theridgechurch.ca”. Set password as “offering”. If you want your offering designated, write that in the messages section, otherwise it will go to the General Fund. Auto-deposit is turned on.

You can also use the debit machine in the lobby, or place your offering in the boxes located in the lobby and sanctuary.

Outdoor Service & Wheeler Run

We are excited to hold another outdoor service on September 13th at 10:30am! Just like last time, please plan to arrive early so we can park and arrange vehicles in the best way. If you like to bring your lawn chairs and sit with your bubbles, that’s fine too!

Following the service, we’ll be doing our second annual “Wheeler Run Sunday”. Bring your wheeler, side by side, or dirt bike to church and we’ll go for a nice run after church is finished. More details will be released soon, but we wanted to get it on your calendar!

The raindate for both events is September 20th.

Two Services Starting September 20th!

With fall arriving, we expect our weekly attendence to increase, and with COVID-19, we have been running near full capacity all summer. To honour public health guidelines and share the message of Jesus with as many people as possible, we need to move to two services.

Starting September 20th (September 27th if rain moved the outdoor services), we will be holding two identical Sunday morning services at 9:30am and 11am. Registration will be required for each service and the button will be on the homepage of our website.

We will also be rebroadcasting the service at 7pm each Wednesday evening for those who are not yet comfortable with attending church in person.
